5 Things Making Me Happy #11

January 9, 2015

How was everyone’s first full week of the new year?? Mine was good one, on New Year’s Day I said goodbye to all of our Christmas decorations. They are safely back in the attic to hang out for the year. The house is mostly clean, or as clean as you could expect with a 6 and 3 year old in the house.

School started back on Wednesday so Lily is back to class and Emma started PreK 3! Jim and I may have done a Happy Dance on Wednesday! Both girls in school. The house to ourselves! Eeekkkkkk!!!! πŸ™‚

Now on to 5 Things….

1. Earlier this week I took Lily the movies to see Annie and we both loved it! As soon as we left the theater Lily was asking me to look up the songs so she could listen to them again. I have to say they are catchy and I like them as much or maybe even more than she does! The entire soundtrack is great, but my favorite is the song below. I challenge you to listen to the soundtrack and try not to dance…I don’t think it’s possible! πŸ™‚

2. Jim and I have given up refined sugar for a time. We just feel like we need a little restart after the holidays. These Whole Wheat Carrot Muffins have been a life saver! They are amazing. I’ll have to do a post on them soon.

3. This Shrimp Fried Brown Rice recipe! I can’t get enough!Shrimp Fried Brown Rice

4. Emma has been so excited about starting school! (PreK3) She was ready for her first day!

5. The cold has found South GA! We don’t get too many really cold days (thankfully) but when we do it’s nice to snuggle next to the fire….and drink coffee of course!

5 Things Making Me Happy #10

January 2, 2015

Happy 2015!!!

I feel like I blinked and 2014 was coming to an end, but I am excited to see what 2015 holds. We are still on holiday mode around here. Lily is out of school for a few more days so we have been having lots of family time. I hope you all have had lots of happiness in the past year and lots more to come this year.

Here are a few things bringing a smile to my face this week!

1. My new phone! I have needed one for the last 6 months but have been waiting it out until it was time to upgrade. I now have my iphone 6, it is so great having a phone that is fully functioning again! (ignore my messy hair)

2. Art work with my girls! I think they did a great job and they had fun doing it!

3. Getting my nails done! I never take they time to get a professional manicure but I’d like to make more time for it in 2015! πŸ™‚

4.  This Kitchen Aid Mixer that we got for Christmas. Mixers have come a long way since we bought out last one. This one is so quiet. It’s like a whisper compared to our old one. It was actually a pleasure to use!

5. Signing up for the Gate River Run in Jacksonville! The largest 15k in the USA!

5 Things Making Me Happy #9

December 26, 2014

I love the week of Christmas and I’m always a little sad when it’s over. Let’s not focus on that, instead lets talk about some fun things that have been going on this week….

1. This recipe for Chocolate Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Bread as soon as it’s gone I want to make more!

2. This 14 minute Power Plank Workout

Believe me you will be sweating and feeling the burn…great workout!

3. Christmas Eve Run! Even if it was soggy, rainy weather it was still nice to get some exercise in before all of the indulgences of the next few days!

4. These Flourless Double Chocolate Brownies! I have already made them twice in the last week and I plan to make them again before this year is over…they are that good!

5 Things Making Me Happy #8

December 19, 2014

We are another week closer to Christmas and I hope you all have been having a festive and merry time! Have you all been watching lots of Christmas movies?? I would like to say that I have been but I really haven’t. I check the listings everyday to see what’s coming on and have really been disappointed. I mean most of the “newer” Christmas movies are just ridiculous. It seems that the ones that I really like are rarely shown. Boo! Anyway I’ve still been having  a great week and here are a few of the reasons why….

1. Our Christmas Card

Back

ChristmasCard-106

Back in the days before I had 2 little girls, I always made sure my cards were sent out by December 1, or at least sometime during the first week of December. Last year it just did not happen, we had to send out New Year Cards instead, but we got our act together this year and all of our cards have been sent out, Yay! Also I love how they turned out. I had lofty goals for us all to be in it, but we ended up just taking pics of the girls. πŸ™‚

Who would have thought that Instagram could bring people together, but I have formed several friendships that would have otherwise never  have happened if not for IG! Not to mention I gain inspiration in the food, beauty, and fashion category! Are we Insta friends yet?

3. Chocolate Mint Tea

Chocolate Mint Tea

This stuff is magical! It is like dessert in a cup! Bonus, whenever I make it the entire house smells amazing. Harney & Sons has several other varieties I want to try as well.

4. This recipe … I kind of have a thing for pasta and this meatless recipe is a perfect way to get all your veggies in!

5. Movie Dates during the week!

Horrible Bosses 2

My mom came over to watch the girls while Jim and I went to the movies to catch Horrible Bosses 2 before it left our theater. It was hilarious and even better than the first one! Oh and I may have a small crush on Jason Bateman. πŸ™‚
