The Choices You Make When Life Gets Tough

December 15, 2016

Have you ever met someone that seems to make life so hard for themselves? It’s like they are actively trying to see just how bad they can screw up. I don’t think that anyone would consciously make the decision to sabatoge their life but I do it to myself time and time again. You would think that at some point I would learn a lesson and decide “Hey maybe just maybe I should take a different path”. It’s a horrible cycle, but I have to believe that it can be broken. If you don’t have hope then you have nothing.

choices

When things go terribly wrong you have 2 choices….

You can wallow in your mistakes, you can be a victim, you can beat yourself up, you can give up and decide that nothing really matters.

or

You can decide that those choices will not define you. That you can get past it. It may not be easy, it may take a long time but you can move forward one hour at a time. Then one day at a time until maybe one day it doesn’t take up so much space in your mind and in your life. You can decide to be the best YOU that you can be. You can refocus your attention on things that will bring you closer to the person that you know you are. You can remind yourself to never give up on YOU. You have to fight for yourself, you have to believe in yourself. You have to move forward even if you are not sure how… I really believe that ability to move forward is the defining difference. The difference between letting something crush you or make you stronger. I want to choose the later.

Thanks for letting me get that off my chest.

Random Thoughts = Thinking Out Loud

March 5, 2015

Happy Thursday Peeps! We are having a little taste of Spring this first week of March! I am so ready for it too. I am kind of tired of being cold. Anyway…..

Still going Whole30 strong and it has seriously made me reevaluate certain foods. Take dates for instance. I liked them before whole30 but I’m kind of in love with them now. They seriously help with those sugar cravings. I’ve also discovered that they are great to snack on during long runs! A natural energy boost instead of using chews or gels.

Dates

Drinking black coffee hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be. I do still miss my creamer but it’s not terrible. I’ve actually discovered that black coffee + a splash of unsweetened vanilla coconut milk + Vitamix = frothy deliciousness. Okay I’m not gonna lie it’s not as good as my french vanilla creamer but it sure is healthier, so I’m going to deal.

I’ve got several songs I’m into at the moment and here is one of them…

On Sunday I had a few hours to myself and I noticed that The Fault in Our Stars was coming on so I thought it would be the perfect time to watch it. I’ve heard so many talking about the book, but I chose not to read it because I knew it was sad, and I usually like my reading to be a little more fun/up lifting. I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and now I want to visit Amsterdam!

The Fault in our Stars

Are there any Homeland fans out there?? We have started binge watching it over here ever since we got all caught up on Blacklist and State of Affairs!
